Teaching
As regular readers of my blog will know I teach in schools theatre companies and privately. I am currently being recommended for teaching work in Schools in and around Glasgow through a previous client.
In my teaching package for schools I use the curriculum needs of the students and turn it into a film session asking them to design and decide a characters attributes based on the materials they need to know for standard grade and higher exams, and follow onto doing a practical session with them:
demonstrating the use of bruising and cuts which has become a popular part of the class. My special effects classes have been known to cause panic in parents:
My kids have been known to go home with the make up on and make up elaborate stories on how they got their bruise etc. I am always pleased when the kids do this as it shows that they are using their imagination and making use of the resources available to them.
One of my favourite parts of the class when I am teaching just make up for a theatre company is to get he kids to decide while they are working how they received the injuries. The best goes to one of my Glasgow students who decided that a rabid hamster had attacked, leading the class into the realms of zoo animals on the prowl in the backstreets of Glasgow.
I will eave you with that thought and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, until I write again.
